Solana gRPC streaming on Carbium RPC

Carbium RPC streams Solana transactions to your application in real time: Yellowstone-shaped data over a WebSocket connection to grpc.carbium.io, not a native gRPC client connection, on the same API key as your RPC endpoint. Streaming starts on the Business plan at $320 a month.

01 · The stream

What you can stream

Solana transactions pushed to your service as they happen, filtered to the accounts you care about, on the key you already have.

Transactions as they happen

  • Yellowstone-shaped transaction stream from grpc.carbium.io
  • Subscribe with the published transactionSubscribe method
  • Pushed to your service instead of polled every few seconds
Endpoint, auth and a working example

Filters you control

  • Include, exclude or require specific accounts
  • Choose the commitment level you receive
  • Keep vote and failed transactions out of the feed

One key, one dashboard

  • The key from your RPC dashboard works on the stream
  • JSON-RPC, WebSocket and streaming on one plan
  • The Carbium Swap API keeps its own key

02 · Fit

Do you need streaming, or is JSON-RPC enough?

Streaming is not the default answer for every Solana app. It pays off when polling waste or event timing has become a real cost.

Use streaming when

  • You need transaction updates as they happen, not on the next poll
  • You run trading, indexing, monitoring or alerting that stays active all day
  • Most of your RPC traffic is repeated "is there anything new yet?" requests
  • Several services need the same feed and one upstream listener would replace many polling workers

Stay on JSON-RPC when

  • Your app mostly reads balances and accounts, or sends and confirms transactions
  • Freshness measured in seconds is fine
  • You have not yet shown that polling is the bottleneck

03 · Use cases

Who uses Solana gRPC streaming

Teams whose systems react to on-chain activity all day, and teams that want one feed instead of many polling workers.

Trading bots

React to fills and pool changes without polling. Quote on the Carbium Swap API, execute on RPC, listen on the stream.

Carbium for trading bots

Indexers and data pipelines

Write chain activity into your own database from one upstream stream.

gRPC use cases

Monitoring and alerting

Notice an account's activity the moment it happens instead of on a schedule.

Dashboards and wallets

Fan one backend stream out to many users; keep the RPC key on the backend only.

Which plan includes gRPC?

Business is the first plan with gRPC access. If your system depends on streaming from day one, start on Business rather than upgrading later.

How to start

Connect with the RPC key you already have and subscribe to the accounts you care about.

  1. Create an account

The Free plan costs nothing and gives you a dashboard and an API key.

  2. Choose Business or Professional

Streaming is included from Business at $320 a month.

  3. Connect to the stream

Use the endpoint and the example in the setup guide.

  4. Test before production

Check what your worker does when the stream drops, run one upstream listener and fan out inside your own system, and keep the RPC key off the client.

Talk to an expertgRPC setup guide

Which Carbium RPC plan includes gRPC?

Business ($320 a month) and Professional ($640 a month) include gRPC access. Free and Developer cover testing and standard JSON-RPC workloads.

Compare all plans and limits

Is there free Solana gRPC streaming on Carbium?

No. The Free plan costs $0 and covers JSON-RPC with 500K credits a month, which is enough to test an integration. gRPC streaming starts on Business.

Is this gRPC or WebSocket?

Carbium delivers Yellowstone-shaped stream data over a WebSocket connection at grpc.carbium.io. You subscribe with the published transactionSubscribe method. A native HTTP/2 gRPC client is not the documented production path. The setup guide has the exact endpoint, auth format and a working example.

gRPC setup guide

What can I subscribe to?

The documented stream is transactions, filtered by the accounts you include, exclude or require, at the commitment level you choose, with vote and failed transactions excluded if you want.

gRPC use cases

Do I need a second API key for streaming?

No. The key from your RPC dashboard works for both JSON-RPC and the stream. Only the Carbium Swap API on api.carbium.io uses a different key.

How fast is the stream?

It depends on where your servers are and what you subscribe to, so measure it from your own region before you commit. The benchmark guide shows how to measure RPC latency and slot freshness from your servers; time the stream the same way.

How to measure latency from your region

Can I call getLatestBlockhash or getBlockHeight over gRPC?

Not on Carbium's stream. Yellowstone gRPC defines calls for these, but Carbium's documented stream offers transactionSubscribe only, so call getLatestBlockhash and getBlockHeight on your JSON-RPC endpoint.

Example JSON-RPC calls

How does Carbium's gRPC pricing compare with Helius and Quicknode?

On list prices checked in October 2026, Carbium includes streaming from the $320 Business plan. Helius includes LaserStream from its $499 Business plan and bills streamed data from plan credits, and Quicknode includes gRPC from its $499 Scale plan or as a $499 a month add-on on lower plans.

Carbium RPC runs on Swiss-owned bare-metal servers. The same plan that includes streaming also carries 100M credits and 200 requests per second for your JSON-RPC traffic.
